Asif Mirza – Berkeley Group
I work in Quality Assurance for Berkeley Group. I have a background in project and property management going back 20 years. In my current role I have been focussed on improving quality, business processes and standardisation across all projects, and more recently developing a digital technology solution to support improvements, efficiencies, standardisation and collaborative working for high rise, housing and modular construction.
Paul McSoley – Mace
Paul is a chartered engineer and has worked in construction for over 25 years from an Apprentice, Specialist System Project Manager, MEP Project Leader, Technical MEP Leader and a Design Leader for all disciplines on major projects and currently as a technical compliance lead in a major UK construction business.
He has been an active participant within the industry linking together the fire compliance problems of walls, dampers, fire rated duct work etc. He has also been part of the BESA technical committee for several years and has a drive and passion to support BESA and the wider industry through steering committees, technical committees and knowledge shares. He is an advocate of passing on his expertise and experience on matters such as public health, water systems, fire testing standards & compliance, energy & carbon, contracts, construction delivery, commissioning, handover and is always happy to help.
Neil Yeomans – Orbit
Neil is the Head of Property Safety for Orbit. His team is multi-award winning and Neil was awarded the prestigious ‘influencer of the year’ award by RoSPA in 2020. The core of Orbit’s success is their ‘Continuous Improvement’ culture – one where they look beyond bare legal minimum standards and focus on safe systems of work. Ultimately, this has led Orbit to become the first national housing provider to achieve BS9997 accreditation, the International Safety Award for Customer Safety, as well as the RoSPA Gold for customer safety – this third-party recognition of Orbit’s work is critical to providing assurance to customers that Orbit prioritise their safety.
Paul White – Enfield Council
Experienced housing development professional working for housing providers to deliver affordable housing since the mid-1990s. A Chartered Construction Manager (MCIOB), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing (FCIH) and Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) having also worked since the mid-2000s in sustainability and low carbon development and retrofit projects. Currently working since 2016 on large regeneration projects as a Housing Development Manager for Enfield Council.
Dwayne Florant – L&Q Group
Dwayne has a background in BIM Consultancy, driving information quality whilst leading teams to develop their digital capability and capacity. He is passionate about deploying emerging technologies, working with people, and refining processes so we can build better places and responsibly manage our built environment. Recent work includes the collaboration with Asset Owner Operators to better define and understand their requirements for the procurement and maintenance of physical assets and their associated data.
Dan Macpherson – Henry Riley
Dan has 13 years’ experience working as a chartered Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager and Development Manager (and fulfilling the roles of CA/EA) on new build and refurbishment projects across residential, commercial, leisure/hospitality and recreational sectors. He is Head of Henry Riley’s National MMC Team, Head of Retirement and also Head of APC.
He has experience of Traditional, Design & Build and Construction Management procurement routes, a variety of contracts (including PPC2000 and the JCT suite), and numerous tender routes. Dan has worked on projects that have adopted various forms of MMC including LGSF volumetric modular, LGS panelised modular, CLT as well as traditional/MMC hybrid projects. He played a key role in establishing a retirement housing roll-out programme, adopting modular construction methods and is now working with both public and private sector clients to establish and implement their MMC and sustainability strategies.
Dan is able to work across sectors, securing excellent client feedback on the projects he delivers. He builds strong relationships with clients through his dedication, enthusiasm and in-depth knowledge and experience.
Harshul Singh
Experienced construction-design professional with a demonstrated history of working in the architectural and construction industry on 35 projects of varying scale along with cross-functional roles. Currently, pursuing a Master of Science degree at the Bartlett, UCL in Construction Economics and Management.
Lysa Nicely – Wandle Housing
Lysa has worked in the social hosing sector for over 20 years in large and medium sized organisations. Currently Lysa is working for a housing group around the south London area, delivering safety to over 7,500 homes. Her focus is to ensure her teams implement and deliver standards in line with the up-and-coming Building Safety Bill and the Fire Safety Act. As a Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers and an Associate member of the Institution of Fire Safety Engineers Lysa is also developing Building safety cases and is heading up the remediation programme for External Wall systems. Lysa has been involved in many round table discussions and working groups relating to driving improvements within the residential and commercial industry.
Paul White – Ventilation Fire Smoke
I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer. I have had a long career in the design, development, testing and application of fire resisting and smoke control products. My main areas of expertise are ventilation, dampers, ducts and smoke control. Through interaction with many other groups and organisations I have an understanding of most passive fire protection issues too. I have published a well-received book about Smoke Control dampers that also gives an insight into smoke control systems. I am active in standards development bringing wide experience to both the BSI and CEN arenas as a committee chairman and member. I am now an independent consultant on the areas that I am experienced in and developing some training too.
Mike Smith – Bailey Partnership
An Architect, Director and Practice BIM Manager at Bailey Partnership, Mike has a strong technical background and wealth of knowledge in Building Information Modelling. In recent years these capabilities have led him to be involved in many high profile recladding projects, supporting Building Safety Fund Applications and making people feel safe in their homes.
Sharon McClure – Operations Director, Avesta Group.
Since I started working within the Construction Industry, primarily in passive fire protection, I have become an ambassador for our industry.
Through my involvement within the Scottish Contractors Group / BuildUK / BuildScotland; Construction Scotland Procurement Working and currently serving as an Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) Council Member, I am also supporting the Academy for Construction People as part of their Executive Committee, with their Passive Fire Protection Apprenticeship Programme, providing a mixture of class and site training to increase the knowledge of the apprentices, and to ensure a more robust form of training for all UK based passive fire contractors.
As an active member of our industry, I hope to contribute to the improvements of not just our trade, but of the built environment as a whole.

Marc Bradfield - Residential Head of Design for Bouygues UK.
Marc is the Head of Department for the Design Management team operating through preconstruction and delivery. He has over two decades of experience working in both site and design management for contractors, across a broad spectrum of sectors and project sizes.
He is passionate about encouraging knowledge sharing across his Design Management team together with honest lessons learnt. This is something that he feels is ever more important in a time of seismic change across the industry from both a Regulatory and practice perspective.

A Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer at Milner Associates; a firm with a breath of experience in the low-rise building sector. Expertise in offsite modular solutions, expert investigations, product design and fire risk reviews for timber structures. Martin is a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at Edinburgh Napier University, a member of the BSI Code Committees and technical advisor for the Structural Timber Association.
Alastair Brockett - Hilti Ltd..
Alastair is a Fire Engineer for Hilti Ltd. He provides engineered firestop solutions and general technical support on firestop. This is for all stakeholders involved in firestopping, clients through designers to installers. Alastair has been in fire protection for nearly 35 years involved in design, specification, technical advice, training, CPD, fire testing and product development. He is currently in a Codes and Approvals role.

Tom Cannon, MCIAT - Group BIM Manager at Hill Group UK.
Acting as both a developer and a contractor at Hill Group UK we are continuing our promise to delivering quality homes across the country. We see BIM as an importance in the industry and are currently implementing a new BIM strategy. It is my role to ensure that this new BIM strategy is implemented, and that efficiencies and quality are shared throughout the Group, as well as its clients, joint venture partners, and end users. We now live in a world of data, and our goal is to offer all relevant parties and the supply chain access to any single integrated source of data for any built asset. Sarah Stevenson-Jones – Enfield Council
Sarah is a Chartered Surveyor with over twenty years’ experience, working across both private and public sectors. Her role as Resident Safety Director at the London Borough of Enfield encompasses; Asset Strategy, Capital Programme delivery, Compliance management and Building Safety.
Sarah is Chair of London Councils Housing Directors fire safety group and National Vice Chair of the Social Housing Fire Strategy Group (NSHFSG).
Joseph Lally - Digital Engineering Systems Leader at Laing O’Rourke
Joe is a Chartered Building Services Engineer who has worked primarily for MEP design consultancies over the last 17 years. His current role is with Laing O’Rourke developing and delivering a digital transformation strategy which aims to improve efficiency, quality and innovation within the construction industry with the smart application of technology. He is also playing an active role in CIBSE’s Society of Digital Engineering (SDE) committee.
James Bowles - 4D modelling specialist
With a background in engineering and construction, hee chairs the 4D Construction Group, an industry group focused on 4D modelling and planning; runs Freeform, a 4D specialist consultancy; and is an advocate for digital construction. James has been building 4D models for 10 years and has worked on a wide range of major infrastructure and buildings projects.
Maxine Beadle - Wilmott Dixon
Maxine is a BRE BIM Certified Digital Manager with Willmott Dixon. She is tireless in pursuit of the efficient use of information to improve outcomes for all and the modernisation of the built environment sector. Maxine has been at the forefront of developing corporate digital strategy and is a member of UK BIM Alliance Affiliates Team and the Co-chair of COMIT Technology group. She is a regular participant at industry forums as well as an active ambassador in encouraging future generations of women into construction.

Karen is the Residential Development Manager for Kingspan Insulation, focusing on long term strategy for developing products and services into the residential market. She has been in the construction industry for over 20 years, involved as a Contractor, Manufacturer and Distributor. Much of her work has been to understand the links between the different supply chain members and how best to collaborate in order to achieve the most suitable outcome for the build.
Chris Hall - Siderise
Chris Hall BSC(Hons) MBA has over 35 years’ service in the construction industry in various commercial and general management roles both in the UK and Overseas. Most industry time spent in the insulation segment- fire, thermal and acoustic. Experienced in standards development and other technical groups, Chris is currently the External Affairs Director for Siderise Insulation, having stepped down as Sales Director in 2020. Passionate in putting back into the industry by helping shape new policies and practices for the future. Advocate of digitalisation where it adds value and helps deliver on the “golden thread”.
